The Ardennes rollercoaster provided the perfect backdrop for a landmark performance in the FIM Endurance World Championship. The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team finally conquered their home race at the 2026 8 Hours of Spa Motos, turning pole position into a dominant victory.

The Winning Performance

The #37 BMW M 1000 RR, piloted by Markus Reiterberger, Steven Odendaal, and Michael van der Mark, was virtually untouchable. Despite the notoriously unpredictable Spa weather—which saw rain showers frequently transform the track surface—the trio maintained a clinical pace. After the disappointment of near-misses in recent seasons, this victory marks a significant redemption for the Bavarian manufacturer on Belgian soil.

The Podium & Championship Shake-up

  • 1st: BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team (192 laps)
  • 2nd: YART Yamaha Official EWC Team (+1:16.079)
  • 3rd: Kawasaki Webike Trickstar (+2 laps)

YART Yamaha, led by Marvin Fritz, Karel Hanika, and Leandro Mercado, played a strategic game but struggled to capitalize on their wet-weather prowess due to mistimed tire changes. However, their second-place finish allows them to consolidate their lead in the championship standings (91 points).

Accidents & Heartbreak

The race was far from a simple procession:

  • Yoshimura SERT Motul: Gregg Black, Etienne Masson, and Dan Linfoot suffered an early-race crash that dropped them outside the top 20. Their six-hour recovery drive to P4 remains one of the most gritty performances of the weekend.
  • F.C.C. TSR Honda France: After fighting at the front and even setting a new race lap record of 2:19.750, last year's winners were forced to retire mid-race due to technical issues, a crushing end to a weekend that promised a podium return.
  • Elf Marc VDS Racing Team/KM99: The home team’s day fell apart following a combination of technical gremlins and a crash for Bo Bendsneyder during a rider swap, relegating them to 29th.
  • Superstock Drama: The Champion-Hert Powered by MRP team, having dominated the Le Mans opener, saw their race end in retirement after 100 laps, handing the class win to Revo-M2.

The Verdict

Spa proved once again that EWC is a game of attrition and strategy. While BMW celebrated a flawless run, the championship remains tightly contested. With only a single point separating the second and third positions in the standings, the focus now shifts to the iconic Suzuka 8 Hours in July, where the Japanese manufacturers will be looking to reclaim the spotlight on home turf.
