Two Young Filipino Riders join the FIM MotoMini World Series 2025 in Valencia
Valencia, Spain — Two Filipino riders, Melchyzedek Jacob Ngo, 12, and Mike Dalaniel Supan, 14, competed in the 160cc category of the FIM MotoMini World Series 2025, held November 9-13 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Both riders, who qualified through the FIM MiniGP Philippines Series, adapted to the international track and Ohvale 160cc bikes but did not advance to the main races.
Ngo, the Philippine series champion, and Supan, the first runner-up, posted their fastest free practice laps of 45.763 seconds and 46.526 seconds, respectively, across four sessions. In Qualifying 1, Ngo recorded 46.135 seconds for 11th place, and Supan 46.683 seconds. Neither qualified for Q2, entering them into Qualifying Races 1 and 2.
In the 14-lap Qualifying Race 1, Ngo started 17th and finished 15th in 10:57.994, with a best lap of 45.935 seconds. Supan started 23rd and finished 18th in 11:13.676, with a best lap of 47.084 seconds.
Qualifying Race 2 saw Ngo's bike stall at the start from 15th on the grid, putting him a lap down. He caught the backmarker by lap 12, finishing with a time of 8:03.752 and best lap of 46.172 seconds. Supan started 21st and finished in 8:01.344, with a best lap of 47.055 seconds. A red flag on lap 12 ended the race, with results declared at that point. Only the winner advanced to the main race.
Poland's Witold Dariusz Kupczynski won the 160cc overall title with 95 points, including victories in Race 1 and the Super Final. Jan Babiarz (Poland) won Race 2.
The series is part of Dorna Sports' Road to MotoGP program for riders aged 10-16. It progresses from local FIM MiniGP events to regional Moto4 Cups, the Moto4 Junior Cup, Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, and grand prix classes.
In the Philippines, the FIM MiniGP Series and BRAP Training Academy provide training from age 6-8, enabling qualification for events like this. Last year's participant Kenzo Abadilla's performance drew attention to Filipino riders.
