MANILA — Petron Corporation unveiled its new Sprint Scooter Oil on November 12 at a launch event in the city, targeting the growing number of scooter users in the Philippines. The product line, available in three variants, aims to address specific engine needs for scooters amid rising urban mobility demands.

The event highlighted Petron's focus on motorcycle lubricants, with company executives present to discuss the product's development. Attendees, including media from the motorsports sector, heard presentations on how the oil performs under local conditions like heavy traffic on EDSA and C5, rough roads, and variable weather.
3 Variants:
According to the company's press release, Sprint Scooter Oil is formulated for dry clutch systems common in scooters, differing from traditional motorcycle engines. It comes in SC 400 (premium multigrade), SC 600 (synthetic-based), and SC 800 (fully synthetic) grades, each offered in 800ml and 1-liter bottles. The oil meets high API ratings and is blended at Petron's facility in Southeast Asia.

Virgilio V. Centeno, Petron's VP for Industrial Sales, addressed the crowd: “We understand the daily challenges of scooter riders—that’s why we developed Petron Sprint Scooter Oil. It was designed to make everyday rides smoother and worry-free, offering high-quality and value-for-money that riders can truly count on.”

The launch emphasized practical benefits, such as suitability for long rides, uphill climbs, and continuous operation in heat or rain. Petron positioned the product as an affordable option for the "ScooterNation," with the tagline "Subok Sa Bawat Ride" underscoring its reliability in daily commutes and deliveries.

In a post-event interview with NewsMoto, Christian Dantes from Petron's Lubricants Department clarified the product's origins. "This is actually a relaunch also," Dantes said, noting that while Petron previously offered Sprint 4T for general motorcycles, the new line takes a "more focused approach" for scooters due to differences in clutch systems—specifically, the dry clutch and friction modifiers.
Dantes outlined the variants: SC 400 as a premium multigrade, SC 600 as synthetic-based, and SC 800 as fully synthetic. All are tailored for local road challenges and available in the specified sizes.
On motorsports involvement, Dantes confirmed Petron's activity in events like Inside Racing, signaling ongoing support for the racing community. Looking ahead, he mentioned expansions in the lubricants roadmap, including specialized oils for SUVs, UV Express vehicles, and a recent coolant product line.

The event featured Petron's management committee, including Centeno, VP & Executive Assistant to the President Jaime Lu, VP for Procurement Jacqueline Ang, SVP and CFO Emmanuel E. Eraña, and General Manager Lubin B. Nepomuceno, among others.
Scooter ownership has surged in the Philippines for its maneuverability in traffic, but maintenance remains a key concern. Petron's entry into this segment comes as riders seek oils that balance performance and cost without compromising engine protection.
