MotoGP: Marc Márquez Wins his 8th BMW M Car!

Valencia, Spain – November 16, 2025 – In a fitting coda to his triumphant 2025 MotoGP season, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) has etched his name deeper into the history books, clinching the prestigious BMW M Award for the fastest qualifier—for a record eighth time. The Spaniard, who stormed to the Riders' World Championship crown in Japan, received the keys to a stunning BMW M2 CS in Velvet Blue Metallic during a ceremony at Circuit Ricardo Tormo on Saturday, just hours after the season's final qualifying.

Handed over by Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, and Axel Mittler, Marketing Manager at BMW M GmbH, the award caps a year of redemption for the eight-time World Champion. After injury-plagued seasons that tested his resolve, Márquez's 2025 resurgence was nothing short of spectacular: he dominated with eight pole positions and five front-row starts, amassing 351 points in the BMW M standings. Remarkably, he locked in the victory despite sitting out the final four rounds due to a shoulder injury, finishing eight points clear of his brother Álex Márquez in second.

"It's taken a few years, but I'm really happy to see my name back on the list of BMW M Award winners," Márquez beamed post-presentation. "This season has been a dream for me, even though I obviously didn’t imagine it ending with a shoulder injury that made me miss the final races. But it’s great to be here in Valencia and to be recognized once again as the fastest qualifier—for the eighth time! I actually found out I’d won while I was out buying fruit—my brother Álex didn’t manage the result he needed in the penultimate qualifying in Portimão to keep the contest open. But I promised him he’ll get to drive the car too! For us, it’s always something special when our performances on the track are recognized in this way. Now it’s time for the winter break, and my goal for 2026 is clear: to win the world championship, and this award, again!"

The BMW M2 CS prize is a beast worthy of Márquez's prowess: a premium compact high-performance sports car boasting 390 kW/530 hp from its high-revving straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. Paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, it blasts from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, all while tipping the scales as the lightest M2 yet thanks to extensive carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in its aero and interior. Agility, dynamics, and a sporty edge define this exclusive special edition from BMW M GmbH.

Márquez's haul extends his unparalleled streak, having swept the award seven straight times from 2013 to 2019. He now surpasses the trio of Francesco Bagnaia (2022-2024 winner), Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Fabio Quartararo, Sete Gibernau, and Nicky Hayden on the all-time list since its 2003 inception. The award, dished out annually by BMW as the "Official Car of MotoGP™" since 1999, honors the grid's quickest in qualifying—25 points per weekend, a nod to the razor-sharp starts that define grand prix glory.

As the paddock packs up from Valencia ahead of the winter hiatus, Márquez's dual triumphs—title and award—signal a dynasty reloaded. Will 2026 bring a ninth? The grid's predators better watch their mirrors. For more on BMW M's MotoGP legacy, head to www.bmw-m.com. Stay tuned for 2026 testing buzz!
