Bagnaia Shines in Malaysia Sprint, Marquez Locks in 2025 P2

Sepang, Malaysia – October 25, 2025 – Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) stormed to a dominant Tissot Sprint win at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia, turning pole into a 2.2-second victory. Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) secured second, clinching P2 in the 2025 championship and creating history with a Marquez brothers 1-2. Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer claimed the 2025 Rookie of the Year title, despite a tyre pressure penalty dropping him from P3 to P7.

Bagnaia’s Masterclass

Bagnaia seized the lead at the start and never looked back, pulling a one-second gap by Lap 3. His blistering pace kept rivals at bay, setting up an exciting Grand Prix on Sunday.

Marquez Milestone

Alex Marquez’s P2 finish confirmed his runner-up spot in the 2025 standings, marking a historic sibling 1-2 with brother Marc for Gresini Racing.

Aldeguer’s Rookie Glory

Fermin Aldeguer’s bold charge saw him pass Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) for P3, securing the Rookie of the Year crown despite the late penalty. Acosta inherited P3, followed by Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) in the top five.
